HELPING YOU TAKE THE NEXT STEP

Feldenkrais Therapy

Feldenkrais Therapy

During our lifetime countless events influence our movement, such as pain, injury, environment etc. There is a tendency to carry this history as habitual movements, or “baggage” that the brain has adapted (or maladapted) in order to avoid or protect the issue. Noticing these habits is the first step to recovery and improving your movement. The session is developed, specifically for you, custom-tailored to your unique circumstances to address your particular habits of moving and holding yourself. Your increasing self-awareness enables you to let go of these habits, to find and choose new patterns of movement; you may find similar development in the flexibility of your thinking and feeling.

At times, various props (pillows, rollers, supports) are used in an effort to support your body configuration or to facilitate certain movements.  The learning process progresses without the use of any invasive or forceful procedure.

If your goal is to achieve, easier movement, or eliminate aches and pains, realise a more complete self-image, enhance confidence, achieve greater adaptability to situations, improve your mental health and wellbeing, reduce work related stress and anxiety leading to improved productivity, or just pursue an enriched quality of life.  Then all of these are within your capabilities, and through Feldenkrais techniques you learn how to attain them.

You may be thinking “I don’t do sports and I don’t have any neurological issues can I still get benefit from Feldenkrais”.  The answer is most definitely yes.  There is no limit to improving your movement and this can also have a hugely positive effect on many other areas in your life.
