AXA Insurance Clients

At The Performance Clinic our physiotherapists are highly skilled – we will continue to treat Insurance clients except for AXA members.

AXA Policy update

From 1st September 2026 we will no longer be accepting AXA insurance clients who want to claim from AXA.

Over the years AXA insurance have been increasingly difficult for physio clinics to deal with.

All insurance companies pay our fees as they recognise our quality of service, except AXA.

These are the reasons we are taking this stance.

1. Across the country physiotherapy fees have increased with inflation, and yet AXA have not increased our fees for over 10 years and they remain undercutting our actual fees, despite charging insurance clients higher premiums. They pay us £40 instead of £55. They pay newly grads the same fee, even though we have decades of experience. We are clinical specialists.

So please be careful who they signpost you too for treatment as you will not know if you are getting a new grad with zero clinical experience.

2. The admin time it takes to invoice AXA is becoming an increasing burden. They do not have a functioning system and expect a 17 point questionnaire to be filled in to claim for a treatment. You would think adding your membership number all your details would be pre populated but no, alas, we have to double data entry for name/address/ dob/ telephone number/ body part/ history etc . Everything they already know about you. And they expect us to do that every time we invoice for a session.

3. We often find ourselves chasing payments that they have failed to pay months down the road, again adding to the time burden.

4. They have set up a second invoicing system where we have to actually pay them on a monthly basis to use their invoicing system to recoup our money.

By the time we have paid for our administrator to do this, it has made us sit back and reflect.

5. They are now stopping clients to claim back, forcing us into their invoicing process.  We refuse to do this.

I like to spend my time and my good positive energy doing what I do best which is treating clients to make them feel brilliant again. And as you can tell this AXA business is not good energy for me!

You can still benefit from our expertise by coming to us and I would strongly advise you to change your insurance company. Bupa are very easy to deal with.

I hope you can support us with this new policy.

With Best Wishes

Penny
